　　今天咱們看一個(gè)挺牛但是很容易錯(cuò)的詞，叫 whereas.

Some people argue that resolution of the housing problem hinges upon governmental endeavor, whereas many others contend that it calls for a concerted effort from individual, communal, corporate and governmental forces.

一些人認(rèn)為解決住房問(wèn)題取決于政府的努力，而其他很多人認(rèn)為這需要來(lái)自于個(gè)人，社區(qū)，公司和政府的協(xié)調(diào)一致的努力。

這句話如果能用在5/13號(hào)大作文的開(kāi)頭段，絕對(duì)拿分

關(guān)鍵是一個(gè)whereas，明確的表達(dá)出some people 和 many others這兩類(lèi)人的鮮明對(duì)比，用一個(gè)詞連接起兩個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單句，形成了一個(gè)超級(jí)復(fù)雜的句子。

再舉一個(gè)例子：

The government, more often than not, has to balance and weigh competing interests, whereas private resources invariably have a clear-cut,intensely-focused and well-scheduled objective in sponsoring national sports teams.
政府通常必須平衡很多相互競(jìng)爭(zhēng)的利益，而個(gè)人或者公司的資源在資助國(guó)家代表隊(duì)的時(shí)候總是有明確，集中并且計(jì)劃清晰的目標(biāo)。

這句話把4/29號(hào)誰(shuí)應(yīng)該贊助國(guó)家體育代表隊(duì)說(shuō)得挺清除的吧？

所以，請(qǐng)各位看官記住，whereas是表達(dá)一句話當(dāng)中從句和主句的主語(yǔ)之間對(duì)比的有力武器，開(kāi)頭段和主體段都可以用（結(jié)尾段最好用別的句型）。

需要提醒的是whereas絕對(duì)不等于however,以前見(jiàn)到同學(xué)有用錯(cuò)的

最后，whereas在國(guó)外的合同里一般表示“鑒于“的意思，不過(guò)這已經(jīng)超出了雅思的范圍，出國(guó)之后大家再學(xué)吧 ：）
